Many believed that FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets’ future is tied to Lionel Messi; however, it seems that will not be the case.

Busquets played his final match at Camp Nou on Sunday, as the veteran will leave once his contract expires on June 30. Nonetheless, he noted his desire to play with Messi but understands that it’s not that simple.

“I would like to play with Messi, but it doesn’t work like that,” Busquets told Spanish media outlet Esport3. Whether it’s for Andrés [Iniesta], Jordi [Alba]… We’re not a pack. I have 3-4 offers that I will analyze in with my family.”

However, if Busquets decides that his next chapters will be in Saudi Arabia, as the soon-to-be ex-Barcelona captain has a reported offer from Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal, perhaps playing with his former teammate is possible.

Foot Mercato reported on Monday that while Messi desires to join the Spanish club, the Argentine’s camp has already accepted an offer from Al-Hilal. According to the French media outlet, the Paris Saint-Germain star will receive a massive salary too.

Messi will receive a two-year contract worth €1.2 billion, the biggest commission in history. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will make €600 million per season.
