Report Reveals What PSG Players Really Thought About Messi’s Reported Suspension

Lionel Messi’s reported two-week suspension ended up being short-lived.

Messi was reportedly handed a two-week suspension by PSG for taking an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia following the team’s Ligue 1 home defeat to Lorient. PSG had initially planned to not allow Messi to play or train with the team for two weeks.

PSG reportedly changed course on this matter after Messi took to Instagram to issue an apology for taking a trip to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission. The Argentine forward made his return to the Camp des Loges on Monday to take part in an individual training session, and he reportedly will be available for PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against AC Ajaccio.

According to L’Equipe (via Le10Sport), PSG players were “initially irritated” by the Argentine forward’s absence during the team’s scheduled training session on May 1.

The report adds that some PSG players felt that the club’s initial call to hand out a two-week suspension to Messi was “too severe.” Other PSG players believed that the club’s decision on this matter was “logical.”

It is still up in the air whether PSG will give Messi the green light to feature in its upcoming league matchup against AC Ajaccio. PSG currently holds a six-point lead above second-place side RC Lens atop the Ligue 1 standings.
