Lionel Messi will reportedly miss Paris Saint-Germain’s next two Ligue 1 fixtures after he was handed a two-week suspension by the club for taking an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia.
Messi will not be allowed to play or train with the team during his suspension, and thus, he will be sidelined from PSG’s upcoming league matchups against Troyes and AC Ajaccio.
According to RMC Sport, PSG manager Christophe Galtier plans to feature Messi in the team’s final three matches of the Ligue 1 season “if he is fit.” The report added that this matter will “obviously involve a discussion” between Galtier and Messi.
The RMC Sport report also touched on the speculation over whether Messi has indeed played in his final match at PSG. The Argentine forward is set to become a free agent in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Overall, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will next be able to feature for PSG on May 21 when the current Ligue 1 leaders will meet Auxerre. PSG currently holds a mere five-point lead over second-place side Olympique de Marseille atop the Ligue 1 table.
