Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva was the star of the second leg UEFA Champions League contest against Real Madrid. As a result, it explains why Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos wants to reunite with the player.
However, French journalist Bruno Salomon revealed why the capital club is keen on the 28-year-old, a player that was promised to Kylian Mbappe when he decided to extend his contract until 2025.
“Kylian Mbappé, for his extension, [PSG] promised him, for a while [they] told him ‘Bernardo Silva is coming,’ “Salomon said on L’Equipe de Greg (h/t Canal Supporters). “Last year at the time of extension, the name of Bernardo Silva was put on the table for Kylian Mbappé to extend.”
While Silva reuniting with Mbappe would be music to the 24-year-old’s ears. Salomon notes that the Portugal international is a player that the French giants need.
PSG will likely need to replace the production of Lionel Messi, who will become a free agent on June 30 and appears to be leaving. Meanwhile, Neymar Jr. has seen his name in various transfer rumors in recent weeks.
“Since always, since the Monegasque period and his departure. His name always comes up,” Salomon continued. “There were two names: Fabinho and Bernardo Silva, and PSG wanted them. I just hope that Paris Saint-Germain will not end up in a game of cuckoldry with Barça […]
“Afterward, he is the player Paris Saint-Germain need. This PSG needs Bernardo Silva and to build next season and what you want to do is the ideal profile. It is to be hoped that he goes to see Pep [Guardiola], that he knocks on his door and that they finally discuss together.”
Silva is reportedly open to joining Paris as he has Campos and Mbappe, two people who know well and will likely sell them on the PSG project this summer.
