Julian Draxler will soon make a return to Paris Saint-Germain. Draxler joined Benfica on a one-season loan deal during last year’s summer transfer window. This agreement between Benfica and PSG did not come with a buy option, so the German midfielder will make his way back to the Ligue 1 powerhouse during the upcoming summer window.

Injuries marred Draxler’s one-season stint at Benfica. He played in just 18 fixtures in all competitions with the reigning Primeira Liga champions. His run at Benfica ultimately came to an end in February after he underwent season-ending surgery on his left ankle.

Draxler recently joined the rest of his Benfica teammates for the club’s Primeira Liga title celebrations, and he took some time on the day to offer an apology to Benfica supporters for his injury-marred season.

“I really appreciate everybody in Benfica,” Draxler said. “I want to say sorry to all the supporters that I didn’t do more for the club because of my injuries.”

Draxler has one more year left on his contract at PSG.
