Inter Miami has been relatively quiet in the Lionel Messi sweepstakes; however, the MLS side is ramping up its efforts to land the 35-year-old, whose contract expires on June 30.
TyC Sports’ César Luis Merlo reported on Tuesday that Inter Miami made a formal offer to sign Messi as a free agent. Additionally, the Argentine journalist notes that the South Florida-based club rules out that he be transferred to Barcelona.

The loan information came from L’Equipe, which reported on Tuesday that Barcelona is considering allying with Inter Miami. The French media outlet notes that Messi would sign a free transfer with Inter Miami and they would let Messi go out on loan to Barcelona.

Merlo also confirms that the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner has an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Meanwhile, Barcelona continues to wait for the green light from La Liga to get in the race.
Nonetheless, a recent report from TNT Sports Brasil Marcelo Bechler, who’s based in Barcelona, reported on Tuesday that Barcelona could not afford to promise anything to Messi as they await what the league decides on their financial package.
Bechler continues by saying that barring a downright off-script twist, it’s the end of the line and Messi will not return to Camp Nou this summer. Instead, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner might continue his career outside Europe.
