Robert Lewandowski is the latest person from within FC Barcelona to state his desire to see Lionel Messi return to Camp Nou this summer.
Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30 and the Spanish club will do everything possible to have the Argentine return. The only major hurdle they face is the finances.
However, if the Catalan side can make the economics work, the Poland international would like to play with Messi.
“I’d like to play with him here,” Lewandowski told Polish journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk (h/t Mundo Deportivo). “He’s changed his style in recent years. It’s easier to play with players who understand football as deeply as he does.”
A recent report revealed that Barcelona has made their first offer to the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner with a €25 million per season salary with a contract until 2025.
Nonetheless, the La Liga side does face competition for Messi as Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal is also in the mix and, according to oddsmakers, is the favorite to land Messi.
Furthermore, MLS side Inter Miami is making a play for the Argentine to bring him over to South Florida.
There are a few weeks left in the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season and then the rumors over Messi’s future will surely hit overdrive.
