Journalist Spills Beans on Hakimi’s PSG Status Amid Real Madrid Rumors

Paris Saint-Germain is nearing the end of their 2022-23 season and the discussion around the team surrounds the possible changes that could come to the roster this summer.

PSG Talk columnist and CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson examined some names that shouldn’t have untouchable status. Right-back Achraf Hakimi has been in the headlines over the last months on and off the pitch.

Johnson notes that the French giants should take the fee if an offer comes PSG’s way, which they might, as there are recent Real Madrid rumors

“Hakimi’s off-field issues are well documented and despite his close relationship with [Kylian] Mbappe, questions have still been asked regarding his disappointing form for much of his time at Parc des Princes,” Johnson wrote in his recent column. “There is no doubt that he is a quality player and that ordinarily he will part of the build towards the future.

“Equally, though, a significant offer could tempt PSG to cash in this summer and avoid any potential future headaches with Hakimi. Sure, there is a sizable risk that Mbappe gets upset, but there is little choice for the Ligue 1 leaders if an offer arrives which could aid a wide-reaching rebuild which would ultimately be to the France international’s benefit.”

After years of needing a quality right-back, PSG dropped a lot of cash for the 24-year-old. The Ligue 1 side paid around €60 million to Inter Milan in 2021 to bring the Morroco international to the French capital.

However, PSG might be tempted to recoup their initial fee and look to get another right-back, or they may allow Nordi Mukiele to take over the role and invest the money elsewhere.
