FC Barcelona has to play the waiting game as they currently cannot pursue Lionel Messi. The Argentine will become a free agent on June 30 and his camp is beginning to explore his options.
Messi is reportedly aware and would like to return to Barcelona, but he is issuing a key demand before considering the Spanish club. Nonetheless, those on the Catalan side continue to express their desire for the 35-year-old to return.
“We are trying to sign Messi,” Jordi Cruyff said on Jijantes FC. “It’s not a lie. But he is the owner of his future, it’s Leo’s decision… Whatever he decides, he is a fan of the club and deserves a statue.”

If La Liga continues to drag out reviewing Barcelona’s financial package, Messi might have no choice but to examine other prospects. A report out of France revealed that the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner’s camp has reportedly accepted an offer to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
The reporting notes that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will receive a two-year contract worth €1.2 billion. Regarding the contract details, Messi will earn €600 million per season, which would be the biggest commission in history.
