Father of Lionel Messi Slams Reports Surrounding PSG Star’s Future

Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi appear to be heading toward a separation once his contract with the capital club expires in June.

Rumors of the 35-year-old favoring a move to Saudi Arabia surfaced this week. Nonetheless, Messi’s camp put out smoke to that rumor as the Argentine ponders his future.

Messi’s father and agent, Jorge Messi, denied rumors of a possible deal with Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Jorge states that his son will decide on where he’ll play the 2023-24 season once PSG’s Ligue 1 campaign is over.

“There is absolutely nothing,” Jorge said. “The decision will not be made until Lionel has finished the championship with PSG. Once the season is over, it will be time to analyze and see what there is, and then we’ll make a decision.

“The truth is unique and we can assure you that there is nothing with anyone. Not verbal, not signed, not agreed, and there will be none until the end of the season.

“Those who engage in a conscious and deliberate way, without providing proof of these assertions, and seek to transform into information any rumor that is malicious or directed at someone in favor of their interests, the statement concluded. They should explain why they are not contrasting the information. You don’t want the truth to spoil your news.”

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner’s future likely will be at FC Barcelona, Al-Hilal, or Inter Miami, with the Spanish club possibly being the first choice as it’s reported that Messi still wants to compete in the UEFA Champions League.

However, Barcelona’s financial situation remains a hurdle for them to reunite with Messi, who might have to shift to Plans B and C if the Catalan option doesn’t come to fruition.
