The future of Lionel Messi remains uncertain as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June, and he becomes a free agent.
If PSG decides to end the Messi era, the 35-year-old will have to look at his other options. There’s the prospect of returning to FC Barcelona, but their financial issues are a significant hurdle.
As a result, the interest from Saudi Arabia appears to be gaining steam. Nonetheless, former AC Milan manager Fabio Capello commented on the rumors about the Argentine possibly leaving Europe this summer.
“Does he want to finish on top with his team [going to Barcelona], in agreement with himself or does he want money?” Capello told reporters at the Laureus World Sports Awards (h/t RMC Sport).
“Messi will be happy wherever he goes. He’s a great player, the best for me. If he wants to return to Barcelona with his family and loved ones, so much the better.
“If he decides to go to Saudi Arabia, he will decide to develop football there. He has to choose where he wants to finish because he said he wants to play in the next World Cup. This decision will be very important for him.”
The other non-European option, aside from Al-Hilal, for Messi, is to cross the Atlantic Ocean and join MLS side Inter Miami, which has long been interested in the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
While Barcelona waits for La Liga to decide on its financial package, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner could be lining up his choices if a return to Camp Nou is out of the question this summer.
Do you really think Messi is looking at the money he already has money the goat loves football when the goat is happy in a club he gives his all but if his not you get what you get psg doesn’t make the goat happy the club and the fans are not making him feel at home
