FC Barcelona is keen on having Lionel Messi return this summer to Camp Nou, although it’s far from a done deal. Nonetheless, various players on the team are publicly speaking about the 35-year-old.
Pedri recently spoke about what he hopes happens this summer regarding the Argentine. Now, it’s Barcelona center-back Ronald Araujo discussing the possibility of the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner’s return.
“Generally, we don’t talk about it, but Messi is always welcome and more so here at Barça,” Araujo told Uruguayan station ‘Sport890’ (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
A recent report reveals that Messi has a proposal of €25 million per season offer with a contract until 2025. However, the veteran’s father does reserve some concern over a possible return which has to do more with the Spanish tax authority.
Nonetheless, suppose Messi wants to remain playing at the highest level of football and possibly win another UEFA Champions League. In that case, Barcelona is the only destination should their finances allow for the signing.
Al-Hilal and Inter Miami remain interested in the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, but those two options appear long shots at this point.
