Napoli goal scorer Victor Osimhen is reportedly the primary target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer as sporting advisor Luis Campos hopes to reunite with the former Lille OSC star.
Emmanuel Petit is applauding Campos’ potential pursuit of the 24-year-old. Osimhen has been one of the reasons why the Italian club has a stranglehold on Serie A this season, with 21 goals.
“He became the third best goal/minute ratio player in the history of Serie A,” Petit said on RMC Sport. “He is having an extraordinary season. Every year he is progressing.
“He has incredible qualities that are sorely lacking at PSG. He has a physical presence in the box; he is a very good finisher. He has a killer instinct. He is the first to do the pressing. He is a bulldog after losing the ball!”
However, RMC Sport pundit Jérôme Rothen is more skeptical of this pursuit, citing Renato Sanches as why reuniting with former Lille players isn’t always going to be successful at PSG.
“He is one of the best attackers in Europe today,” Rothen said. “But for me, this reflection is to ease. Luis Campos and Christophe Galtier had [him] in Lille and they think that automatically it will also work in Paris.”
Sanches is “a little lost” at PSG, Rothen stated. “It is very disappointing compared to the investment.”
The pursuit of Oshimen should also include financial issues, considering Financial Fair Play continues to monitor the capital club. Also, Napoli will want a significant amount to let the striker exit this summer since the transfer value of Osimhen is currently at €100 million, per Transfermarkt.
Furthermore, the Ligue 1 giants have other holes that it needs to fill, such as the central defense and adding more depth.
