Why Javier Tebas Gives Gloomy Reality of Messi Return to Barcelona

Lionel Messi will become a free agent in June when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June and it’s no surprise that FC Barcelona wants to reunite with their former player.

However, La Liga president Javier Tebas doesn’t see the Spanish club’s efforts to bring Messi back to Camp Nou as a black-and-white situation. The main hurdle for Barcelona in the Messi sweepstakes is their financial situation and Tebas offered a grim reality.

“Barça must take many financial measures to undertake Messi’s registration,” Tebas said. “They need lot of effort to make it happen. Today I don’t see his signing as feasible. But there’s a lot of time left, Barça can still make moves to get Leo.”

“We are still awaiting a feasibility plan from Barcelona. They need a big effort to make it happen. They can sell players, for sure — but they still have some players to register too.”

Currently, Messi is gearing toward a departure from PSG as both sides have yet to agree on a contract extension and reports suggest that there are at odds on their demands.

For PSG, it would be in their best interest to move on from Messi as it allows them to use the money from his wages to fill other holes on the team. As for Messi, if Barcelona and the capital club are out of the option, then MLS might be viable.

Inter Miami has never hidden its desire to bring the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner and they’ll pull out all the stops to ensure a move happens.
