Why Barcelona President Joan Laporta Wants Lionel Messi Return to Camp Nou, per Report

Lionel Messi’s future remains a talking point for various media outlets.

Regarding the latest information, FC Barcelona wants the 35-year-old to return to Camp Nou so they can at least have a farewell type of tour before the Argentine eventually leaves European football.

The “Carrusel Deportivo” program on Cadena Ser reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta met with Messi’s father, Jorge, a few days ago. Laporta reportedly explained to Jorge that it was not possible to see the 35-year-old leave Europe without paying tribute to him.

Aside from possibly remaining at PSG or returning to Barcelona, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner has options outside of Europe. Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal reportedly sent a massive offer to Messi, which was rejected.

Furthermore, Inter Miami remains in the mix and is the likely destination for the Argentine should he leave Europe.

Barcelona keeps publicly stating that they want Messi to return, but a reunion between the two parties will depend on the Spanish club’s financial situation.

  1. I had enough of Messi’s greed. Is Messi returns for one season for free, that’s ok, otherwise, let him get his money elsewhere.
