Transfer News: Real Madrid, PSG Battling for River Plate’s New Messi, per Report

Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos’ unique talent is securing young players who have yet to develop. However, the club chief has yet to land those nuggets, but that could change.

Spanish media outlet Sport reported on Monday, citing sources, that PSG is challenging Real Madrid to sign one of the jewels in Argentine football, Claudio Echeverri. The River Plate wonderkid started with the U20s of River Plate before joining the reserve team this 2022-23 season.

Nicknamed “El Diablito,” he is also an Argentinian U17 international. Moreover, he is currently participating in the Sudamericano U17 in Ecuador—a tournament where he has already scored three goals.

For now, all interested parties have only contacted the 17-year-old and haven’t gone further than that, considering the teenager is expected to extend his contract with the Argentine club, which would put his release clause from €25 million to €50 million.

PSG already lost out on Palmeiras’ talented teenager Endrick to Real Madrid; it will be interesting to see if the French giants lose another to the Spanish club.
