Paris Saint-Germain will be in the market for a striker this summer and has been linked to various players, but there’s now a new target in the rumor mill: Lille OSC’s Jonathan David.
L’Equipe (h/t Paris Fans) reported on Friday that sporting advisor Luis Campos has already contacted his former club to inquire about a possible transfer. Furthermore, David could be a more economical choice as he French media outlet notes that the price would be €65 million.
Nonetheless, there will be plenty of competition for David, who will be allowed to leave Lille if a suitable offer comes their way, as Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG are all in the mix for the 23-year-old.
Chelsea, Spurs and PSG are waiting to see who will be their next coach so they can determine whether David fits the profile of striker that the manager will want.
David appears ready to take the next step in his career and play for a more prominent club. The Canadian goal scorer has recorded 23 goals and four assists this 2022-23 season.
Many are calling for PSG to shop in the Ligue 1 market and landing a player like David would be ideal, considering his age and track record. It will be interesting to see if the Lille man is ready to produce at a club where there’s pressure to win.
