Sergio Ramos will become a free agent in June and while his future isn’t being talked about as much as Lionel Messi’s, the defender is unsure where he’ll be playing the 2023-24 season.
Nonetheless, during a press conference, Pilar Rubio, Sergio Ramos’ wife, provided some insight into the future of the Paris Saint-Germain center-back.
“I don’t know if we’re going to stay in Paris or if we’re going to come back (to Spain),” Ramos’ wife said (h/t RMC Sport). “And the worst thing is that I won’t know until the last moment, so I don’t think not even on this subject.”
A recent report out of Spain revealed that Ramos’ extension is on a good path considering the situations regarding Milan Skriniar and Presnel Kimpembe. However, Rubio’s comments might tell another story.
There’s no doubt that Ramos’ second season has been better than his first, where the veteran defender is showing that there’s something left in his tank. Still, at 37 years old, the capital club needs to assess his age during possible contract talks.
It will be interesting to see if they keep Ramos, but they might have him take a pay cut, considering the French giants need to address other needs this summer transfer window.
