Paris Saint-Germain could soon part ways with Fabian Ruiz.
RMC Sport provided updates on several transfer-related matters regarding PSG, including the future of Ruiz at the club. RMC Sport noted that Ruiz will not be “retained” by PSG in the upcoming summer transfer window, and this comes a month after L’Equipe reported that the veteran midfielder would be playing for his future at the club over the remainder of this season.
Ruiz joined PSG last summer from Serie A side Napoli on a five-year contract, and he reportedly signed off on a €9.090 million (gross) per year deal. He was one of the four midfielders who were brought in by PSG football advisor Luis Campos during the summer transfer window to help revamp the team’s midfield depth.
Ruiz has since emerged as a go-to starter under PSG manager Christophe Galtier. The Spanish midfielder has combined for 19 starts in the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 competitions this season. For one, he earned a start in the second leg of PSG’s Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich last month.
Ruiz is slated to next feature for PSG in its upcoming Ligue 1 home fixture against second-place side RC Lens.
