Report: PSG Joins Manchester City In the Interest of a Promising Serie A Defender

Paris Saint-Germain’s first signing of the upcoming summer transfer window will reportedly be Inter Milan center-back Milan Skriniar, and the Ligue 1 side could once again turn to the Serie A club for defensive reinforcements.

According to Tuttosport, PSG is showing an early transfer interest in Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni. PSG could end up facing competition for Bastoni’s signature, as Manchester City is also keeping a close watch on the situation between the Italian defender and Inter Milan.

Bastoni emerged as a go-to center-back for Inter Milan in the 2019-2020 campaign, and he has since been a staple of the Serie A powerhouse’s backline. He has combined for 27 starts in the UEFA Champions League and Serie A competitions this season.

Bastoni currently has a mere one more season left on his contract at Inter Milan, but club officials do aspire to extend his stay with the team. Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta did note last month that he is “confident” that Bastoni will stay put with the reigning Coppa Italia champions.

Bastoni did recently confirm that he is in “talks” with Inter Milan regarding a possible extension deal.

Bastoni is slated to next feature for Inter Milan in its upcoming Champions League quarterfinal first leg matchup against Benfica.
