Lionel Messi could be playing in his final days with Paris Saint-Germain as his contract with the capital club expires in June and it seems the French giants are ready to turn the page.
French media outlet Le Parisien reported (h/t Culture PSG) that those inside PSG hint that Messi will no longer be part of the plans for the Ligue 1 side heading into the 2023-24 season.
Additionally, the report states that PSG wants to pursue a world-class striker and that the names of Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani appear to be at the top of the list to replace Messi.
It seems the best decision for all parties involved will be to part ways this summer. PSG can use the wages devoted to Messi to bring in two or three players and build the team around Kylian Mbappé.
Meanwhile, Messi likely has two options on where he can continue his football career. If the financial aspects with FC Barcelona work out, the 35-year-old can return to Camp Nou after leaving in 2021.
However, if Barcelona cannot sort out their financial woes and put a deal that complies with La Liga’s salary cap, Messi may leave Europe, head to the United States, and sign with MLS side Inter Miami.
Should nothing change, it doesn’t seem Messi will remain in the French capital for much longer.
