PSG’s Donnarumma Explains Importance of Win Over OGC Nice

Paris Saint-Germain headed into their clash against OGC Nice riding a two-game losing streak and those 180 minutes was filled with poor football. As a result, the capital club needed a win.

Behind the goals from Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, along with a stellar performance by Gianluigi Donnarumma, they were able to pick up the three points and snap their losing skid.

Donnarumma spoke with Canal Plus after the match, where he shared his initial thoughts on the win as the capital club looks to end the 2022-23 season on a high note.

“Yes I am very happy with myself but it is more important [to] the team,” Donnarumma said (h/t Paris Fans). “The most important thing is tonight’s victory, and the lead is already on Saturday because there is a big match against Lens. Tonight is a great victory, we have a six-point lead but it’s important to win on Saturday.

“We needed this victory for the lead. Tonight I saw a great team spirit, a great mentality, a great aggressiveness, it’s very important.”

PSG will likely now win Ligue 1 to end the season positively and allows the team to celebrate. Nonetheless, expect changes to the squad as some players could see their way out this summer.

Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos’ contracts are expiring in June and some players, who don’t have a future with the French giants, could be sold too. Additionally, PSG might have a new manager, with Christophe Galtier on the hot seat.
