Messi Doesn’t Know What ‘Future Holds’ Amid Pending Free Agency

Lionel Messi knows he’ll need to decide on his future relatively soon as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June.

The 35-year-old is the new face of Horizon, Louis Vuitton’s new travel line and as part of the campaign, it includes a short interview with British fashion photographer and film director Glen Luchford.

Luchford, like many football fans, wants to know where the Argentine will play in the 2023-24 season, but again, Messi remained cryptic about what he plans to do with his future.

“I don’t know what my future holds,” Messi said (h/t MARCA). “As I said at the beginning, it’s hard for me to imagine, to think about things that could happen but I really don’t know what my future will be and it will be whatever it has to be, whatever God wants it to be will be.”

FC Barcelona remains vocal about their desire to reunite with Messi as club president Joan Laporta recently said they intend to bring the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner back to Camp Nou. However, finances remain an obstacle for the Spanish side.

Meanwhile, MLS club Inter Miami remains an option if Messi opts to leave Europe and begin a new venture in the United States, where he’ll likely spend the remainder of his career.
