Manchester United has one young player that the Red Devils and the Argentina national team are high on, Alejandro Garnacho.
The teenager has scored five goals and recorded six assists for United in 32 appearances in all competitions this 2022-23 season. Former Argentine player Mario Alberto Kempes had high praise for Garnacho, stating he has similar qualities to a Paris Saint-Germain star.
“He has incredible category and personality,” Kempes told D Sports Radio (h/t TyC Sports). “He reminds me of Mbappé.”
Garnacho is one of the young players that new manager Erik ten Hag will attempt to use as a building block for the attack for however long he remains at Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, if the teenager can follow in the footsteps of Mbappé and produce at the 24-year-old’s level, then Manchester United and Argentina could have one of the top young talents in all of football.
Should Garnacho continue to climb and be a player that regularly contributes to United, then the Premier League side will need to begin plotting the winger’s next contract as his current deal expires in 2024.
Furthermore, expect the 18-year-old to be part of Argentina’s FIFA World Cup cycle leading up to the tournament in 2026.
