Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has shattered multiple notable records as of late, and he is on the verge of once again doing just that.
Messi played an instrumental role in PSG’s recent Ligue 1 away win over Angers. The Argentine forward notched the 15th assist of his Ligue 1 campaign in the first half of the contest.

Overall, Messi needs a mere four more assists to break the record for the most assists recorded in a single Ligue 1 campaign. Angel Di Maria is the current holder of this impressive record, as he logged 18 assists in his debut campaign with PSG in the 2015-2016 season.
If Messi were to break this record later this season, it sure would be quite a feat for him considering that he holds the record for the most assists in a single La Liga season. He tallied an astounding 21 assists in the 2020-2021 La Liga campaign with Barcelona.
PSG has a mere six matches left on its Ligue 1 schedule, and it will return to the Parc des Princes on Sunday for a league matchup against Lorient.
