How Barcelona Reportedly Has Help to Finance Messi Return This Summer

Lionel Messi returning to FC Barcelona is more complex than signing a contract and the Spanish club unveiling his return to Camp Nou.

Barcelona remains in a challenging financial situation and, as a result, needs to devise creative ways to pay Messi’s wages while complying with La Liga’s salary cap and remaining a competitive squad.

News outlets out of Barcelona (h/t RMC Sport) reveal that the Catalan side is in talks with various sponsors who want to see Messi return. The idea between all parties involved is to have sufficient economic aid to meet the 35-year-old’s salary requirements.

The La Liga club hopes to present him with a well-structured offer that keeps their finances intact. A contract that Barcelona will reportedly give to the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is one with a clause on a large percentage of the commercial income he is likely to generate could thus be included in his contract.

While the Spanish side wants Messi to return, their objective is to hinder their financial situation as a trade-off for having the Argentine play for them again.

Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June and he has yet to decide where his career will continue for the 2023-24 season.
