Former PSG Manager Favorite to Land Chelsea Managerial Gig This Summer, per Report

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino didn’t dive into a coaching gig right after the capital club had sacked him last summer. Instead, the Argentine has played the patient card, which appears to be paying off.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that Pochettino is the favorite to land the Chelsea managerial job. The Blues have been without a manager since sacking Graham Potter in early April.

Pochettino would bring Premier League experience, considering he’s had stops at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur; however, Chelsea wants to begin racking up silverware due to how much funds they have invested into the squad.

Nonetheless, winning trophies is something that the Argentine manager lacks; he did win silverware at PSG but failed to deliver the UEFA Champions League trophy. So, it will be interesting to see if that changes if he takes over as manager.

The former PSG boss does have one less competition for the gig as Romano also noted that former Spain national team and FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is out of the race to become the new Chelsea coach as it was a club decision to rule him out.
