Former PSG Forward Drops a Bold Claim on Where It Has Gone Wrong For Galtier This Season

There was plenty of enthusiasm within Paris Saint-Germain over the first half of the season.

PSG picked up convincing wins in Ligue 1 play on a regular basis, and it clinched a spot in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. Fast forward to April and not much has gone PSG’s way as of late. Christophe Galtier’s squad sits atop the Ligue 1 standings, but its season has been marred by its early Champions League and Coupe de France exits.

During a recent airing of RMC Sport’s “Rothen s’enflamme” program, former PSG forward Jerome Rothen took some time to touch on just where it has gone wrong for the Ligue 1 powerhouse as of late. For one, Rothen believes that Galtier has not won over the entirety of the PSG locker room.

“I’m not sure he’s earned the respect of all the players in the locker room,” Rothen said. “Some of them do, but others feel they are above him. It shows in the way they move on the field.”

PSG sure will soon have a crucial decision to make regarding Galtier’s future at the club. The French manager has a mere one more season remaining on his contract at PSG.

PSG has a pivotal Ligue 1 home fixture against RC Lens coming up on Saturday.
