Christophe Galtier Drops a Strong Take on Sergio Ramos’ PSG Future

Paris Saint-Germain still has not reached a resolution on the future of Sergio Ramos at the club. Ramos signed a two-year free transfer deal with PSG in 2021, and he is set to become a free agent in the upcoming summer transfer window.

During a pre-match press conference ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Lorient, manager Christophe Galtier took some time to touch on Ramos’ future with the reigning Ligue 1 champions. He noted that there have been discussions between PSG club officials and the veteran center-back on this matter.

“He had a very difficult season last year with calf injuries,” Galtier said. “He had a full preparation. He is a very professional player. When you have such a track record at that age, you put all the chances on your side to perform well. … He is an important player in the dressing room.

“As for his future, there are discussions between the sports management and Sergio. We’ll see what happens. As I speak, I am very satisfied with his season and especially with what he brings on match days but also on a daily basis.”

Ramos reportedly aspires to stay put at PSG past this year’s summer transfer window. From PSG’s standpoint, the club reportedly plans to address this matter once it officially clinches this season’s Ligue 1 title.

Ramos has been a reliable center-back for PSG so far this season, tallying 25 starts in Ligue 1 play.

The longtime Spanish defender is slated to earn a start for PSG in its upcoming league clash with Lorient.
