Vitinha Issues An Apology to PSG Supporters Following the Club’s Sluggish Performance vs. Rennes

Paris Saint-Germain lost its seventh match of the calendar year on Sunday, falling to Rennes by a 2-1 score on Ligue 1 matchday 28.

PSG created a fair share of goal-scoring chances against Rennes on Sunday. For one, PSG forward Lionel Messi tallied five goal-scoring chances created in the match. In the end, the current Ligue 1 leaders watched as Rennes scored two goals to secure the win on the day.

Vitinha earned a start in PSG manager Christophe Galtier’s 3-5-2 setup in the match, and he completed 89.8 percent of passes in the league contest. Overall, Vitinha was so displeased with PSG’s performance on the day that he issued an apology to the club’s supporters during his post-match interview with Canal+ (via RMC Sport).

“We had a very bad game, there is little to say,” Vitinha said. “Sorry to the fans, who are always there. It’s not a performance like us, we are very sad. We could never have imagined this, the fans don’t deserve this. We will not give up.

“We’re going to think about what we need to improve on during the break.”

Vitinha and multiple other PSG players will now join their respective international teams for the March international break. PSG will return to action on April 2 with a Ligue 1 home fixture against Olympique Lyonnais.
