Lionel Messi made history during the international window while playing a couple of friendlies for the Argentina national team.
The first milestone that the 35-year-old reached was last Thursday when he scored his 800th career professional goal. Then, on Monday, he recorded his 100th goal with La Albiceleste.
FIFA World Cup Stats pointed out on Twitter the several records that the Paris Saint-Germain star currently holds and could have his name to for the foreseeable future.

🏅 Most games-𝟏𝟕𝟒

Messi holds the most games (174), most goals (102), most assists (54), most hat-tricks (9), most best player awards (6) and most trophies (5).
The Argentine could be adding to his record book with the national team as he remains a fixture on the squad. The 2022 World Cup winner reportedly wants to continue playing in Europe, which could mean he’d be ready to play in the 2024 Copa América.
Nonetheless, there’s also discussion about whether the Argentine will be around through this cycle to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, so expect these numbers to go up.
