Sergio Agüero Reveals Prediction on Where Messi Will Play Next Season

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has yet to decide on his future, with his contract expiring in June. Nonetheless, it isn’t stopping many from opinionating on the matter.

Former Argentina teammate Sergio Agüero predicted where he sees the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner playing for the 2023-24 season. The former Manchester City goal scorer invited Gerard Piqué on his Twitch channel, the Chup Chup Kings, where the discussion eventually led to Messi.

“My feeling is that there is a 50 percent chance that Leo Messi will return to Barça,” Agüero said (h/t RMC Sport). “I think Leo should retire at Barça. Barcelona is his home; he must finish his career here. Laporta must make an effort to bring Leo back.”

While Agüero isn’t alone in wanting Messi to return to Barcelona, the Spanish club would have to offload players to bring the Argentine back as they need to comply with La Liga’s salary cap.

Messi reportedly wants to make wages near what Kylian Mbappé is earning on his new contract, which wouldn’t make sense for PSG to pay since they could use that money to spend on two or three other players for depth.

Would the veteran forward take a massive pay cut to return to Barcelona? Possibly, nonetheless, it will be intriguing to see what Messi wants to do as he’s keen on at least playing another season in Europe.
