Paris Saint-Germain center-back Sergio Ramos is set to become a free agent in the upcoming summer transfer window. The veteran defender signed off on a two-year free transfer deal with PSG in 2021 that did not include an option for a third year.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Ramos has not yet received a new contract offer from PSG. Ramos and his entourage do anticipate that they will receive an extension proposal from PSG, but they do not expect it to be on the same terms that he agreed to with the club two years ago.
Ramos and PSG came to terms on a €10 million net per year deal in 2021.
There has at the least been some interest from PSG regarding a possible contract extension agreement with Ramos. PSG football advisor Luis Campos did note in September that taking into account the defender’s strong start to the season, he would not rule out the possibility of signing him to a new deal.
Ramos has since maintained his keen form for the reigning Ligue 1 champions. He has played in 24 matches in Ligue 1 play so far this season, and he earned starts in PSG’s two UEFA Champions League round of 16 fixtures against Bayern Munich.
Ramos is expected to feature in PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 home fixture against Rennes.
