It’s been a couple of months since Argentina lifted the 2022 FIFA World Cup and various stories from the squad continue to trickle out, with the latest coming from Atlético Madrid right-back Nahuel Molina.
Molina spoke about his goal during the highly contested game between Argentina and the Netherlands in the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals. The 24-year-old opened the scoring with an assist from Lionel Messi and shared details regarding the strike.
“Messi’s assistance against the Netherlands was incredible, but I never told him anything,” Molina told DEPORTV. “It was just that everything was crazy on a day-to-day basis within the concentration. I tried to enjoy the moment, my first goal, the victory. There will be an opportunity to ask him.”

The Atlético Madrid defender isn’t wrong about the matchup being a rollercoaster ride for fans watching the game. Argentina led comfortably 2-0, then conceded two goals in the match’s final stages.
As a result, the Netherlands pushed the game to extra time, but the South American nation would eventually emerge as the winner and advance to the semifinals.
Following their victory over the Netherlands, it was a good scare to help Argentina march on to winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
