Lionel Messi was playing with the Argentina national team for the first time since winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. While the team did play a friendly against Panama on Thursday at Estadio Monumental, it felt more like a party than a football match.
It was the first game that Argentina played in the country and while there was plenty of celebration going on, it wouldn’t have been a complete party had Messi not scored for the South American country.
Nonetheless, at the 89th-minute mark, the Paris Saint-Germain star scored on a free-kick that gave Argentina a 2-0 lead and would end up being the final scoreline.
