Paris Saint-Germain has responded well to its UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg defeat to Bayern Munich. PSG secured a thrilling 4-3 home win over Lille OSC on matchday 24 and then notched a convincing 3-0 away victory against Olympique de Marseille.
Messi starred in PSG’s much-needed wins over Lille and Marseille. The Argentine forward scored the game-winning goal against Lille and then followed it up with a one goal and two assists showing against Marseille.
Messi sees that the PSG squad “got stronger” following the two matches.
“Yes, we are fighting for the title,” Messi told PSG TV.
“I think that in the last game against Marseille, we improved, and the team got stronger with these victories.”
PSG managed to string together a three-match winning streak last Saturday, as it came away with a 4-2 home victory against Nantes.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions will next be in action on Wednesday, as they will square off with Bayern Munich in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.
