Messi Ranks Just Behind This Manchester City Star in a Key Playmaking Stat

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi has been on top of his game as a playmaker in Ligue 1 this season.

Messi currently leads Ligue 1 in assists with 13. He is just coming off of a keen performance in PSG’s 2-1 league victory over Brest, where his late assist to Kylian Mbappe ended up being the game-winner of the match.

Overall, Messi has created 22 big chances in Ligue 1 play in the ongoing campaign, which ranks just behind Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne (24) for the most among all players in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Messi has posted a 2.7 key passes per match average in Ligue 1 play so far this season, which is just above his mark from last year (2.5).

The Argentine forward has also managed to pick up his goal-scoring form in his second year with the reigning Ligue 1 champions, chipping in with 13 goals in 22 league contests played.

Overall, Messi is slated to feature in PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 home fixture against Rennes, which will be the club’s final match before the March international break.
