Jordi Alba Becomes Latest Barcelona Star to Plea Lionel Messi for Return

Lionel Messi still has yet to decide where he’ll play next season. However, his FC Barcelona teammates are doing everything possible to ensure a return to Camp Nou.

Sergi Roberto has already made his remarks public about the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner possibly returning to the Spanish club. Now, the latest to join Roberto is Jordi Alba.

In an interview with the Spanish television channel Cuatro (h/t Culture PSG), Alba said he wants to see the 35-year-old back with Barcelona.

“I would like him to come back,” Alba said. “It would be good for the club and for him.

“We didn’t talk about it because he has a contract with PSG. He is happy in Paris. The first year didn’t go well, it was difficult to adjust to life there, but I spoke with him and this year, he is much better.”

Messi’s contract with PSG expires in June and there’s no word yet on whether he wants to work out an extension to remain in the French capital. However, it does seem the Argentine wants to stay in Europe for at least another season.

As a result, it’s why the Messi camp has reportedly ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia and it will be interesting to see if the same goes for Inter Miami. Nonetheless, a return to Barcelona is complicated.

The Spanish club will need to offload players to ensure that Messi’s wages allow them to be salary cap compliant. As June nears, many former Barcelona teammates will likely comment on this matter.
