Paris Saint-Germain’s woes in the second half of its season continued on Ligue 1 matchday 28, as Rennes clinched a 2-0 league win at the Parc des Princes.
PSG has already lost a total of seven matches in the calendar year. The reigning Ligue 1 champions still sit atop the league table, although their lead over second-place side Olympique de Marseille has been cut to seven points.
Amid the growing tension within the club, PSG manager Christophe Galtier wants his squad to stay focused on the task at hand, which is to finish the ongoing season on a strong note by winning Ligue 1.
“The season is far from over,” Galtier said during his post-match press conference on Sunday. “There are competitors behind us. I repeat, we must not give up. I am in the action, I am not passive, nor worried about me, simply determined that we make a good end of season and that we are champions of France.
Galtier also called on his squad to mirror its success from the first half of the campaign.
“But for that to happen, my squad will have to be more complete, and we’ll have to find our strengths, especially in defense and on the flanks, to have a much more lively and alert game like during the first part of the season,” Galtier said.
PSG will next be in Ligue 1 action on April 2 with a home clash against Olympique Lyonnais.
