Premier League: Why Keeping Hakim Ziyech Wasn’t Wise Decision by Chelsea, talkSPORT Pundit Claims

Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech was in the French capital awaiting for his loan transfer to Paris Saint-Germain; however, the move wouldn’t materialize as the paperwork to finalize the deal was a few minutes late.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions attempted to appeal the loan transfer but were denied. Nonetheless, talkSPORT pundit Scott Minto stated that Chelsea should have ensured Ziyech’s loan move should have happened.

Minto believes that The Blues’ squad depth is helpful to manager Graham Potter, who now faces pressure to ensure that Chelsea finishes in the top four after all the spending the club made during the January transfer window.

“How do you keep players happy all the time?” Minto said Sunday. “An example? Hakim Ziyech. What happened was disgraceful, really, and I blame his agents more than anyone. But Chelsea as a club should have sorted that out and should have made sure it happened.

“Why is he played against Fulham straight after just days after that he should have joined PSG. That’s Graham Potter saying, I’ve got to bring this guy on side, and that’s a distraction. So I think he’s, he’s picked a player who blessed him, was trying his hardest, he really was, but it’s just not happening for him in a Chelsea shirt.”

Ziyech’s failed move does come at a time when PSG could have used the Morocco international. The French giants have been hit with injuries to their forward group. Kylian Mbappe is out for three weeks due to a left thigh injury and Neymar Jr. is dealing with groin pain.

It will be interesting to see how both sides navigate this post-failed transfer.
