Why Bayern Munich’s Herbert Hainer ‘Confident’ for Second-Leg vs. PSG

Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are clicking at the right time as Paris Saint-Germain has one eye on their second-leg contest on March 8 at Allianz Arena.

Despite the duo having quality performances these last two weeks, Bayern Munich’s president Herbert Hainer shared his enthusiasm after the success of his players in the first leg.

“The team showed – already in Paris (1-0) – that they were there when needed,” Hainer told Bild (h/t Canal Supporters). “They will now show it again. I am absolutely confident about [PSG matchup]. When you see what happens from the bench, other clubs will bite their fingers! This is also why I am confident.”

Messi scored the game-winning goal against Lille OSC on Feb. 19 and then provided two assists on Mbappe’s goals in the 3-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille.

Meanwhile, Mbappe has scored four goals in his last two games and appears fully fit heading into the second leg. The two players can carry this offensive momentum into the contest against the Bundesliga side.

It will be interesting to see if the duo can lead the attack and overcome the 1-0 aggregate hole the team currently finds itself in. If the two continue this dominance against FC Nantes on Saturday at the Parc des Princes, it will provide positive momentum heading into the massive match.
