The 2023 season for the Argentine Primera División is underway and the youth team where Lionel Messi began his footballing journey, Newell’s Old Boys, paid tribute to the Paris Saint-Germain star.
Supporters revealed a tifo as they paid homage to Messi for winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup before their contest against Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield on Friday at the Estadio Coloso Del Parque Marcelo Bielsa.

Newell’s Old Boys would win the match 1-0 over Vélez Sarsfield, so perhaps Messi brought some luck to the Argentine side. It will be interesting to see if, one day, the veteran goal scorer returns to play where it all began for him.
