Lost in Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 first-leg loss in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night was Alphonso Davies fulfilling a three-year-old wish list.
The last time Davies played against Lionel Messi before this week was in the Champions League quarterfinal in 2020, during the infamous 8-2 contest between Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Davies wanted to get the Argentine’s shirt postgame; however, the Spanish side having conceded eight goals, Messi wasn’t in a talking mood, so the 22-year-old had to wait. Nonetheless, after the game this week, the Canadian international tried his luck and finally received a kit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup winners back.
