Report: PSG-Bayern Munich Second Leg Clash to Impact Lionel Messi’s Future

Lionel Messi has yet to agree to either a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain or announce that he’s leaving the capital club when his deal expires in June.

French media outlet Le Parisien reported, citing sources, that nothing will change for Messi’s extension before the clash against Bayern Munich. Nonetheless, an elimination could push him to turn the page.

Additionally, negotiations with PSG are also stretching because of the salary. The player does not want to decrease his salary of €38 million per year net.

Messi remaining in the French capital is a hot topic of conversation as some, like former PSG player Eric Rabésandratana believes it’s time for the capital club to say goodbye to the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.

At 35, Rabésandratana believes his age shouldn’t warrant a large salary and should be used to fill other needs on the squad this summer.

“He is starting to be at an advanced age,” Rabésandratana told Le Parisien. “He really poses a problem with the design of the game at PSG. When you have a Lionel Messi, you have to play everything for him in fact.

“However, at PSG, we are not going to play everything for him but everything for Kylian Mbappé. Nor does it register in the spirit. We need guys who surpass themselves, warriors. Look at a Danilo. For me, he is a real PSG player.”

It will be interesting to see what Messi decides to do with his future and whether he wants to play next season.
