Paris Saint-Germain was the first victim in Real Madrid’s march to the 2022 UEFA Champions League trophy. The capital club conceded three goals in seven minutes in the second leg, resulting in their elimination.
However, CBS Sports Pundit Jamie Carragher believes that PSG, along with Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, losing due to Real Madrid’s comeback ability was more good fortune rather than skill or tactics.
“I think Real Madrid is one of the luckiest teams to ever win the Champions League,” Carragher said Tuesday on “CBS Sports Golazo.”[Against] PSG [they] scored two goals with [12] minutes to go. Chelsea took them to extra time. Man City [they] scored two in the last minute and in the final [Thibaut] Courtois was man of the match.”

While there’s some luck involved in what Real Madrid did last year (and on Tuesday to Liverpool), there’s that championship DNA in the squad that had won three straight Champions League trophies. The Spanish club knows it’s never out of a game until the 90 minutes are done.
