PSG, Lionel Messi to Meet ‘In Coming Weeks’ As Extension Talks Continue, per TyC Sports

The future of Lionel Messi remains uncertain as the 35-year-old’s contract expires in June, and has yet to sign an extension with the capital club or any new deal with another team.

Mundo Deportivo reported on Friday that the situation should resolve itself in two or three weeks. Now TyC Sports’ Gastón Edul also provided an update on Messi’s future. The Argentine reporter revealed, citing sources, that there would be another meeting between Messi’s entourage and PSG in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Edul revealed that the French giants have always been the Argentine’s first choice, signaling that the veteran goal-scorer wants to continue playing at the highest level of football.

The TyC Sports journalist continued by saying that since the 2022 FIFA World Cup, there’s been an agreement in principle to negotiate a possible extension between the two parties.

Messi has also been rumored to be heading to Inter Miami as the MLS side is also in the mix. Co-owner David Beckham recently praised the 2022 World Cup winner, so there’s hope on their part they can convince him to head to the United States.
