Neymar Reveals His Mindset Ahead of PSG-Bayern Munich Clash, Squad’s Recent Stuggles

Neymar Jr. didn’t have his best game against AS Monaco, as the 31-year-old could not carry the Paris Saint-Germain attack without Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in the 2-1 loss on Saturday at the Stade Louis-II.

However, the Brazil international needs to turn the page as PSG now have their clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes. Ahead of the first leg UEFA Champions League contest, Neymar spoke with reporters about the matchup.

“I have a lot of self-confidence,” Neymar told reporters (h/t Canal Supporters). “I’ve always been on top since I’ve been in Europe. I know my abilities and my qualities. We are all prepared for this match.

“We have a great team to play a very good game. I like to play these big matches, against the big teams. This is when high-quality players need to appear. We are working hard to make a great game.”

Additionally, Neymar was asked about the rough stretch that PSG experienced last week. The capital club crashed out in the Coupe de France Round of 16 against Olympique de Marseille and then fell to Monaco. As a result, they’re heading into the match on a two-game losing streak.

“I have no explanation,” Neymar continued. “I think it happens to all clubs at times of difficulty. As a team, we have to be united, focused. It is good that these difficulties are coming now. We are aware that there are flaws, but we want to improve and show the best version of PSG.”

PSG hopes that their fortunes will begin to change on Tuesday. Many supporters have hit the panic button, but should the French giants win, it could calm the fanbase.
