Paris Saint-Germain clinched a 3-1 away win over Montpellier on Ligue 1 matchday 21. While PSG wound up scoring three goals in a league match for the first time since November, the reigning Ligue 1 champions did not necessarily have their way in the first half, logging a mere one shot on target.
PSG football advisor Luis Campos revealed to Telefoot that he touched base with Messi at halftime of the league fixture, and the Argentine forward had a simple one-word message for him.
“I remember a little word I said to Messi at halftime in the last game [against Montpellier], ‘Leo, you have to take everyone else with you,'” Campos said. “He said to me, ‘quiet,’ and he played an outstanding second half of the game.”
Messi shined in the second half of the contest; he scored a goal in an away league fixture for the first time since October.
Messi ended up building on his promising showing against Montpellier, as he went on to score a goal and create seven goal-scoring chances for teammates in PSG’s Ligue 1 home victory over Toulouse.
Next up for Messi is PSG’s Coupe de France round of 16 showdown against Olympique de Marseille.
