Lionel Messi’s Free Kick Goal Caused ‘Liberation’ on PSG Squad, Vitinha Believes

Paris Saint-Germain was on the verge of losing four straight matches in all competitions, despite winning 4-3 over Lille OSC on Sunday at the Parc des Princes.

The capital club was up 2-0 but conceded three unanswered goals to Lille. Les Dogues were up 3-2 when PSG’s star players snatched a victory from the opposition. Vitinha spoke with reporters postgame and revealed the emotions the squad let out after Lionel Messi’s goal

“Even when we don’t win, everyone feels it; everyone wants to win,” Vitinha told reporters postgame. “On Messi’s goal, everyone had this feeling of liberation. We really want to win. It’s good to have done it today.”

Before Messi’s eventual game-winning goal, Kylian Mbappe scored the game-tying goal on a connection with Juan Bernat. Afterward, the Argentine would cause everyone to show their emotions, even his wife, as the win felt like a burden lifted off the squad’s shoulders.

Nonetheless, PSG must use this victory and create momentum as the French giants have two more Ligue 1 games before their second-leg clash against Bayern Munich on March 8 at the Allianz Arena.

If the capital club can win their next two games, it might help the squad’s mental aspect as they hope to turn around their 1-0 deficit.
