How Facing Star Players Like Messi, Mbappe, & Neymar Motivates Monaco’s Star Defender

Paris Saint-Germain has one contest before they can begin thinking about their UEFA Champions League first leg Round of 16 matchup against Bayern Munich on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.

The capital club will face AS Monaco on Saturday at the Stade Louis-II and defender Caio Henrique spoke with ESPN Brazil, where he discussed the match and having to face the star players when PSG comes up on their schedule.

“We are in a good moment, without defeats for seven games and growing at the right moment,” Henrique told the Brazilian outlet. “Facing PSG is always very complicated, as it is a great team, with great players and world-class stars, such as Neymar, Messi and Mbappé. But on the other hand, On the other hand, it also motivates us to get on the pitch and play a great game.”

For Henrique and Monaco, Saturday’s clash will likely only see them face Neymar Jr., who returned in the 2-1 Coupe de France elimination loss to Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday, as Messi appears uncertain.

Messi suffered a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for the contest as PSG hopes to have the Argentine for their matchup against Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe is out for three weeks with his left thigh injury.

As a result, the French giants will attempt to secure a win without two of their attackers.
